About us
Chorella is a community acappella choir based in the Hawkesbury region. Members meet weekly to rehearse an exciting repertoire and regularly perform across a range of settings from concerts to community events. Choristers of all levels of experience are welcome and there is no audition process to join. The only requirement is a love for singing! For an in depth recollection of Chorella's history and exciting current projects, see Marjorie Doran's article "On Wings of Song", which is featured in our blog.

Why we love a Cappella and why you should, too!Literally, a cappella translates to 'chapel' in Italian, which refers to its original meaning 'to sing in the manner of the chapel'. In modern times, it refers to choral pieces without instrumental accompaniment. The style has existed for centuries and has evolved vastly from madrigals to barbershop to Glee! style compositions. A cappella music provides singers with a unique opportunity to harmonise without reliance on accompaniment and allows the performer to become fully immersed with their vocal counterparts. It is truly power and reinforces the versatility of the voice as a musical instrument.
